Camp Devens Ayer, [Massachusetts] [December] 15, 1917 Dear Folks – Today finds some new developments which I am about to write of. First, we will not leave unil the early part of January. Second - an examination is to be given us soon on engineering subjects, and those of us who pass will be given an advancement! To do this work I must review some of the books quickly. Today is Saturday you will probably get this letter Tuesday eve. If you send the books (mentioned below) IMMEDIATELY I will get them next Saturday morning. Just a week from now. So please have Lewis carefully wrap the books I mention in heavy paper and parcel post as quickly as convenient. (If on a school morning he could send them from the P.O. near Fratman on Grand Ave.)
