I was particularly glad to know the letters that reached you and that you do write me once in a while. way. Me thinks it will win me a promotion after all, but I make no promises for fear of being dissapointed. In your letter you speak of subscribing to the Stars & Stripes. I have already subscribed for you and you should receive a copy a week for July, August, & September I shall be degighted to get the St. Louis papers but have seen nothing as yet. – The Boston papers come to me regularly. I was well pleased with Louis’ success at School but think he will make big mistake if he does not continue in some college or university. Its the educated and trained man who counts – the others are out of luck. Mr. Berlendes has probably told you I am in the Hospital. Shortly after returning from

Paris, I was siezed with severe pains in the right lung. These became so painful one night that I was taken away in an ambulance. A diagnosis showed I had pleurisy. Two weeks have passed and I have recovered considerably. Probably a couple of more weeks will find me well again. I am on my feet now and take life easy in the sun & fresh air. Am given splendid treatment with excellent meals. Thanks to the American Red Cross. I have heard from Emil Reutner who is now over here. Maguolo wrote this letter from the base hospital. Maguolo was hospitalized because he had severe pains in his right side and was diagnosed with pleurisy. This letter was written on Y.M.C.A. letterhead. |
