George J. Maguolo letter to Dad - n.d.

Transcript
#71 Langres France - Dear Dad – I was delighted with your letter of [February] 6th and can plainly read between the lines the dissapointment which is yours to find that there is not indication of our probable return. You can never know our own disheartened feeling of the humiliation we suffer – due to so called army regulations. Did you get my letter #66? I know there are occasional bright spots one of which manifested itself a short time ago in a three day leave to St. Mihiel. But you can bet we earn them! I am inclosing two clippings which you may have read – but it is best to read nearly everything connected with the army with a grain of salt these days! to think that we are supposed to be so ignorant as to swallow the included articles!

This article, of course, deals only with the wrongs among the officers. As yet we have to discover any agitation to help the situation for the Enlisted man and to reveal his treatment in the hands of these same officers. We wait – we can do nothing more.
