Description In this June 15, 1916, letter, General John J. Pershing discussed the pursuit of Pancho Villa and American occupation of Mexico. Pershing, a Laclede, Missouri, native, organized and commanded the Mexican Punitive Expedition and later commanded the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I. Crowder, an Edinburg, Missouri, native, served as Judge Advocate General of the United States Army during World War I.
