HEADQUARTERS BASE HOSPITAL NUMBER 15, AEF Casual Bureau, September 26, 1918 1st Series Special Orders, No 12 a. In compliance with instructions from 9H AEF dated [September] 26, 1918, operating Term Number 156, handed by Major Ingraham, is hereby directed to proceed to Souilly, reporting upon Arrival to Lieutenant Colonel Garsin, for Temporary duty at Mobile Hospital Number 6. Major C S Ingraham, MC Capt Thos W Holmes MC Dr E C Leonard (Female Anaesthetist) PFC Henry L Thole MD PVC Joseph A. Jaffe, MC The E T O will furnish the above named enlisted men the necessary transportation for the journey. The Quartermaster Corps will pay the above named enlisted men summation of rations at the prescribed rate for the necessary number of days travel it being impracticable for them to carry rations in kind. Description In this extract of a special order issued by Major Wolfe Floyd several surgeons, including Dr. Esther E. Leonard, were directed to report for temporary duty at Mobile Hospital No. 6 at Souilly, France. Dr. Leonard served as a contract surgeon during World War I at the U.S. Army General Hospital No. 1 in New York City and at an evacuation hospital in Vichy, France.
