U.S. Base Hospital No. 115. Special Head Hospital. Amer. P.O. 781. January 18, 1919. From: Esther E. Leonard, Contract Surgeon, U.S.A. To: The Chief Surgeon, SOS AEF (Thru Military Channels) Subject: Return to the United States. 1. Request that I be relieved from further duty with the American Expeditionary Forces and returned to the United States at once. 2. My reason for this request is that my mother and father are both very old and due to the recent illness of my father, my presence is needed to help them attend to their affairs, as I am their main support. 3. Attention is invited to the fact that I am a Contract Surgeon and not a Medical Officer of the United States Army. Esther E. Leonard.
