TKL IN REPLY REFER TO S. G. O. 201, Leonard, Esther E., WAR DEPARTMENT OFFICE OF THE SURGEON GENERAL WASHINGTON April 2, 1919. Dr. Esther E. Leonard, 909 South Walnut Street, Centralia, Illinois. Dear Madam: I am directed by the Surgeon General to inform you that your contract for service as Contract Surgeon, U. S. Army, was annulled on March 7, 1919. The fact of annulment has been noted on the copy of contract recently forwarded to this office by you and the document is returned herewith. Very truly yours, C. W. Description Major C. W. Ayars sent this letter to Dr. Esther E. Leonard and informed her that her contract as a surgeon in the army had been annulled on March 7, 1919. Dr. Leonard served as a contract surgeon during World War I at the U.S. Army General Hospital No. 1 in New York City and at an evacuation hospital in Vichy, France.
