Houston [Missouri] [April] 22nd 1919 My Dear boy we rec your letter that was dated [March] 29th just took it 17 days to come we are so glad to get your letters and to know you have plenty to eat and you are well we are so anxious for you to get home. Lula called and told me about getting a letter from you She said they was so glad you remembered them She said they would write to you soon. now about the work Papa and Geo want to get that corn planted

[page 2] a cross the creek this week and Steve wants to get done planting this week we have most of our garden planted. raddishes lettuce and onions will soon be big enough to eat. we havent had rain for the longes time it is the dryest April I ever saw but it looks like it might rain soon. what did you do Easter we stayed at home till after noon then went to S School. the Stock looks nice for the time of year. I think you will be please with your colt. Papa and Steve

[page 3] is feeding their hogs trying to get them ready for the June market. Papa come from Cabool today they are all well over there and graces are well this is court week but I dont know what they are doing. I have got 46 little chickens and 4 hens Setting. they is so many hawks this year. well I had to quit writing and see after my chickens so I found another hen hatching So you see you will have chickens to eat when you get home we often sell$5.00 worth of eggs a week
