Description | John Franklin Hardesty entered the U.S. Army Medical Corps and volunteered to serve as a surgeon with the British Army during WWI. In March of 1918, he was captured by Germans in Amiens, France. Hardesty was imprisoned at Ratstatt and Villingen Prisoner of War Camps for eight months. These are six newspaper clippings about Hardesty during his time as a prisoner of war. They are as follows: “Map of German Prison Camps Where Captured Americans are Held,” “2 St. Louis Physicians Missing in Action,” “Winfield Man Missing,” “Gets Address of Son, a Prisoner in Germany,” "Letter from Red Cross" and "Postal Directions Given." |
