Rev FC Streufert November 11 1918 Chicago Dear friend and brother,- I am in receipt of your lines of the 7th with enclosures. The latter have had my careful perusal. Let me say that I agree with you in matter and manner. I am informed as to contents of earlier correspondence, also of Lindemann and Schoenfeld letter, discussed with Prof. Fuerbringer by Pres Brand when he was here. I talked the matter over with Prof F this morning and we agree that you ought to make a stand for our Scriptural principles even if a break should come, yes, even if there should be a split. Better have that now than later, when through such agencies as the Lutheran Bureau, the Lutheran Survey, Brotherhood literature etc etc our Synod has been poisoned in head and members. I know positively that our Synod is sound to the core on this matter. My correspondence is proof. It is unthinkable that it will accede to such un-Lutheran reasoning as is contained in some of the letters addressed to your Board. Every

Theodore was a Lutheran Pastor and Professor of Philosophy and New Testament Interpretation at the Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a gifted writer and influential theologian. Throughout his life he wrote various German and English publications including the Lutheran Witness. Graebner helped shape the teachings and culture of the Missouri Synod. |
