[Lutheran Church Board for Army and Navy letterhead] July 13, 1918. Dear Brother: The Rev. Paul F. Arndt. Of Moberly, [Missouri], has been recommended to us as Government Chaplain to serve our boys under the Flag. Could you give us any information as to his fitness for this position? Write us concerning his character, his ability in preaching English, his ability to deal with young men and men of high standing. Write us concerning his age and family.
