[Lutheran Church Board for Army and Navy Letterhead] December 8, 1917. Prof, Theo. Graebner, 3618 Texas Ave., St. Louis, [Missouri] Dear Brother:- Referring to your letter of December 3rd, I wish to state that said matter concerning Brotherhood was was placed before the general President of the Synod, together with Vice Pres. Miller, Eckhardt, and Brandt, and the general President of the Wisconsin Synod, and the Rev. Brenner and Hagedorn. In their presence it was completely discussed, and after weighing for and against, the following resolutions were adopted. Whilst we cannot identify ourselves with Lutheran Brotherhood as such, be it resolved. 1st.- That we cooperate with the Lutheran Brotherhood ruing the time of was in the work of providing and maintaining places of worship and creation of our boys within the camps. 2nd.- In view of our well known position such cooperation be limited to external or business matters. 3rd.- That we pledge our pro rate share according to number of communicant member toward erection and maintenance of suitable buildings, expecting to have representation on all Boards and Committees, pertaining to business matters, funds, erection, maintainance, control and use of buildings.
