Description | Letter from F.C. Gade to Professor Theodore Graebner including a newspaper article concerning the Americanization of foreign speaking citizens. A new bill introduced in the House of Representatives would eliminate the teaching of any subject in a foreign language in public and private colleges. Following World War I, anti-German sentiments rose across the county. Several states passed legislation forbidding the teaching of German in both public and private schools.
