E.L. Roshke letter to Theodore Graebner - November 17, 1919

Transcript

[November] 17, 1919 Rev. E.L. Roshke, Bourbon, [Missouri] Dear Friend and Brother:- I was very glad to hear from you indeed and the news your letter conveyed about the Lutherville, Arkansas affair was quite illuminating; but not at all surprising. I find that in most cases the troubles which our people have had because of the German Language and parochial schools were provoked through the attitude which our people had taken locally. If we could all remember that we are going to live the rest of our days in America many difficulties would vanish from our synodical work. I am glad to read that you appreciate both Lutheran Witness and Der Lutheraner. It is well for editors to know that their articles are not only read but read with discrimination. With sincere regards, I remain very truly yours, c/gk 3618 Texas Avenue
