Description | Two newspaper clippings from January 9, 1919. One clipping is from the Columbus Citizen and one is from the Columbus Dispatch. The articles concerned the passing of legislation in Ohio that would prohibit the teaching of German in public schools. Following World War I, anti-German sentiments rose across the county. Some states passed legislation forbidding the teaching of German in both public and private schools. The Lutheran Church was divided by the conflict on conducting services and religious instruction in German. |
