RECORD OF EVENTS A few brief notes pertaining to the Federal service of Company K, Second Missouri Infantry; later Company B, 130th Machine Gun Battalion. Taken from a diary compiled by Angus Armstrong during service. [August] 5, 1917 Federalized at 8:00 AM Sunday morning. Talk by Capt. Frey. [August] 6 Drill on Normal School grounds in AM, Convention Hall Armory in PM., Lt. Eslick read Articles of War. [August] 17 To train at 10:00 PM. Frisco and Mo P ac to Nevada. [August] 18 In train all night. AM pitch tents, set up cots, walk to town. [August] 21 Exams and vaccinations. Sore arms. [August] 22 Measuring for uniforms. First time on guard. [September] 26 Packing up for Ft. Sill. Lv 2:07 PM. Ft. Scott 4:06 PM. [September] 27 McAlester, [Oklahoma] 8:00 AM. Off train for rest. Shawnee for dinner and hike around town. Oklahoma City 2:10 PM. Mess of corn willie and hardtack. Chiokasha 6:20. Ft. Sill 10:15 PM. In car all night. Crap games and singing. [September] 28 Up at 4:40. To camp at 7:30. Tents up. Name changed to Co. B. [September] 30 We are part of the 35th Division.
