Gasconade County Historical Society World War I Collection
This elaborately colored certificate was presented to Gasconade County, Mo. resident Otto Magerstaedt in 1914 or 1915. It acknowledged German-Americans for their contributions to German organizations, such as the Orphans of Fallen Heroes or Widows of Fallen Heroes. As a German-American, Otto received this certificate for his contributions to the dependents of German soldiers who died during World War I. It also indicates that Otto became a member of the National German-American Alliance.
