Description | X-ray taken by Edwin C. Ernst of Base Hospital 21 in Rouen, France. This X-ray shows a comminuted fracture of the upper shaft of the right humerus with lateral displacement of the upper pointed fragment. Base hospital 21 was formed from faculty and students from Washington University School of Medicine. Ernst designed his own portable x-ray equipment to help quickly diagnose injured soldiers. |
