Dear Mother, Lt May of Sedalia is returning to the states so I’ll send you all my best and a few handkerchief I picked up. Really thought six was enough to go around but when I made the count Ifound out that Ihad to leave out Elizabeth or some one else so I’ll just send them all to you keep them or divide them as you feel like it. Paris nearly broke me and as Iam planning on getting to England Iam going to write

May a check and he’ll phone you and when he does you take care of the money. May and Ihave been very close for some reason of other and I certainly hate to see him leave. It has been one of those pleasant friendship that a man doesnt have many of during a life time well take care of the check. do what you want with the handkerchief and May will tell you about me - love to all Jim April 17 - 1919.
