My attention has been called to circular letters from your office dated July 4th and July 10th, an address to Class 1 Selective Service Men and an outline of scope and methods to Boards of Instruction P. M. G. O. Form #76. These documents represent an entry upon the part of the Provost Marshal General upon a field with which he is not concerned. March told Crowder to only perform the duties prescribed to the Provost Marshal General and that everything Crowder did needed to be approved by him. This document is part of a collection compiled by Enoch Herbert Crowder, the Edinburg, Grundy County, Missouri native who served as Judge Advocate. Crowder General devised the Selective Service Act in 1917 which drafted America's forces during World War I. |
