Camp Doniphan July 28 1918 My Dear General Crowder- The enclosed was clipped from an Oklahoma newspaper. I thought it might amuse you. My experience [m.s. illegible; 1 wd] has confirmed some notions I had concerning the National Guard system. Sincerely Whitsett [newspaper clipping included]

The newspaper clipping entitled "Tulsa Greek Sends Back Questionnaire; Don't Care For Any" was attached the note. The author of the note believed Crowder would find it amusing. This document is part of a collection compiled by Enoch Herbert Crowder, the Edinburg, Grundy County, Missouri native who served as Judge Advocate General. Crowder devised the Selective Service Act in 1917 which drafted America's forces during World War I. |
