Description In this letter from the Editor-in-Chief of the Philadelphia Record, John P. Dwyer, to General Enoch H. Crowder, Dwyer sent Crowder his compliments of the season. He also included a newspaper clipping from the Philadelphia Record from December 30, 1917 entitled "Getting the Slackers." The article discusses the draft and finding the men you misrepresented themselves on the first draft. This document is part of a collection compiled by Enoch Herbert Crowder, the Edinburg, Grundy County, Missouri native who served as Judge Advocate General devising the Selective Service Act in 1917 which drafted America's forces during World War I.
