Gen. Crowder...page 2... It is needless to say how proud all of us are of your achievements, particularly those of us that attended old Grand River College with you many years ago. It has been a bright spot in my memory, your coming home to Edenberg after your first year at West Point and your telling me of the advantages gained by attending West Point and your advice to me to try for appointment to West Point which I did thereafter, taking the examination at the same time as our General John J. Pershing, who beat me out in the examination, for all of which the Government was the gainer as General Pershing has also established a record of which we can all feel proud. I feel that the Government of the United States, with you and Pershing directing the military powers, will, in due time, make the world safe to democracy and will have rendered the greatest service to mankind that has been rendered in all ages past. If you should find a few moments to spare, I would be delighted to have a letter from you. With kindest regards, I remain, Yours very truly, F.E. Dunlap
