Transcript

June 30th -1918 Lieut. Gen. Enoch H. Crowder. Washington D.C. My Dear General:- It is with profound pleasure that I congratulate my country upon the splendid personality of Missouris noble son, Lieut. Gen. Enoch H. Crowder, who has climbed the ladder of fame, decked with the crown of the blazing star of true manhood. As a Missourian, born in a log house in Lincoln county in 1842, I stepped as a boy of 21 and when I read of the great accompolishment of the boys of my mother state, I felt that we alone could lick the Kaiser with all his hell-cats. Accept the assurance of my love and esteem. Your Truly Nicholas M. Bell P.S. I stand with the Boys Born in the Log House as [m.s. illegible: 1 wd] enclosure
