Description In this letter to General Enoch H. Crowder, C.P.J. Mooney, the editor of the Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tennessee stated that he supported Crowder in raising the draft age and his work or fight order. Mooney also included a newspaper clipping from the Commercial Appeal of Memphis, Tennessee dated June 29, 1918. The article addressed the raising of the draft age and called for all able men to help in the war effort. This document is part of a collection compiled by Enoch Herbert Crowder, the Edinburg, Grundy County, Missouri native who served as Judge Advocate General. Crowder devised the Selective Service Act in 1917 which drafted America's forces during World War I.
