Page, 908 Gloyd Building, Kansas City, Missouri. Dear Jim: Your several letters of the 22nd, 24th, and 25th, respectively, duly received and carefully noted. Mr. Barker received the draft and requests me to thank you for it. Your other two letters both have reference solely to your application for a commission in the Army. The fact is I sometimes cannot write even as promptly as I act. When your endorsements reached me I immediately took them in person to General Crowder

This document is part of a collection compiled by Enoch Herbert Crowder, the Edinburg, Grundy County, Missouri native who served as Judge Advocate General. Crowder devised the Selective Service Act in 1917 which drafted America's forces during World War I. |
