Description In this letter Hugh Johnson wrote Doctor Albert Shaw, the Editor of the "Review of Reviews." in New York and praised the Selective Service Act as one of the most remarkable efficient efforts in Government administration. He criticized Shaw for not praising it more. Johnson stated that after a closer examination of the law, Shaw would surely change his mind. This document is part of a collection compiled by Enoch Herbert Crowder, the Edinburg, Grundy County, Missouri native who served as Judge Advocate General. Crowder devised the Selective Service Act in 1917 which drafted America's forces during World War I.
