Transcript

[January] 15, 1918. Hon. E. H. Crowder, Provost Marshal General, Washington, D.C. Dear General, Colonel McCord has shown me the advance copy of your report of the first Executive Draft, and I read the introductory part and Chapter 9 with a great deal of interest and satisfaction. I cannot find words with which to express my commendation of the service you have rendered the country in this work. I want you to know that people in this your home state, are deeply appreciative. If you could hear me making stump speeches extoling your many virtues to the citizens of this state, you certainly would feel gratified and pleased. I always point to you and your work as to what one of the great sons of Missouri is doing for the nation. Faithfully and always, Frederick D. Gardner Governor. G.McC. Rec
