Washington, D.C. [m.s. crossed out] July 25, 1918. file July 6, 1918 Maj. Gen. Enoch H. Crowder, Prov. Marshall General U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. My dear General Crowder:- I learn that the newspapers were quite wrong in quoting the Secretary of War specifically with reference to military age limits. He did not mention any ages in his discussion with the newspaper men and was much chagrined that the 19 to 40 mimit was mentioned. All that he said was that he was simply studying the question of a change in the age limits. I am enclosing an editorial about which I spoke to you this morning on the steps of the War Department. Yours very sincerely, David Lawrence [newspaper] The Evening Post from Saturday, July 6, 1918
