F.H. Bethell 15 Dey Street New York June 8, 1917. E.H. Crowder, Brigadier General, Judge Advocate General of the Army, Washington, D.C. My dear General Crowder: I am not sure that with all the things you have to do you will find time to read this letter and, or course, you must not take time to answer it. I feel, however, that I should tell you that in my judgment and in the judgment of a great many men with whom I have discussed the matter, the wonderful efficiency shown by you and by you r Department in bringing to a successful conclusion the registration of over ten million men will add tremendously to the confidence of the people in the ability of the Government to conduct successfully the great war that is upon up. Very cordially yours, F.H. Bethell
