July 19, 1918. From: Office of the Provost Marshal General. To: Draft Executives of all States. Subject: Deserters under the First Draft. 1. Draft Executives of all States will furnish by telegraph, the following information in regarded to deserters under the first draft: (a) The number of registrants certified to State Adjutants General by Local Boards on Form 146-A. (b) The number of registrants certified by State Adjutants General to the Adjutant General of the Army on Form 146-B; (c) The number of registrants so certified on Form 146-B who have been apprehended or located, and whose cases have received final and proper disposition. Description Letter from the office of the Provost Marshal General to Draft Executives of all States informing them of the information needed pertaining to deserters. This document is part of a collection compiled by Enoch Herbert Crowder, the Edinburg, Grundy County, Missouri native who served as Judge Advocate General. Crowder devised the Selective Service Act in 1917 which drafted America's forces during World War I.
