[Massachusetts General Hospital letterhead] [August] 11-1920 Dear Jane I want to thank you all for the telegram. It certainly does one good to know that friends are thinking of you. Please give my best to them all. Powie. The last thing Powie wrote. He lapsed into unconsciousness very soon after.

Description | Powhatan H. Clarke sent this letter to Jane and thanked her for the telegram. A note at the end says that this was the last letter he ever wrote. He lapsed into unconsciousness shortly after writing the letter. He died August 30, 1920 after contracting tuberculosis in St. Louis, Missouri. Clarke served with the 21st Aero Squadron and Labor Bureau A.E.F. during Word War I. |
