I with both you, and your sister have had good tidings from your boy. I want to thank you for your much thought in remembering my boy M Jim Massee, and burning of candles which I feel with you was the greatest help to him. I did so [ms illegible: 1 wd] with seeing you and your sister before leaving New York. I planned [ms illegible: 1 wd] could [ms illegible: 2 words] either of you. I was ill with a cold in bed for five days My niece Mrs Bullard came to me each day and just as soon as I could get up I came off [ms illegible: 1 wd] in dreadful cold weather but I did not catch [ms illegible: 1 wd] cold tho still have nasty cough.
