[The Buckingham letterhead] Dr. J.H. Knowles My dear Dr. K - I want to thank you for writing me the affidavit. I am sorry you could not send me your [ms illegible: 1 wd] in a more satisfactory form. As you say yourself I was with my son all through his illness and know what the service was. I consider your charge of $1200 excessive & am not willing to recommend to the [ms illegible: 1 wd] any charge over half that amount. [hoping to hear for you at your earliest convenience [ms illegible: 2 wds] When you stayed at night it was with the understanding that you could be called by telephone if any of your patients needed you, as you told me yourself that you could not give up all your time to any son. I sent for Dr. Smith to take charge of my son and he arrived July 28th. After that you were called in through [ms illegible: 1 wd] of Dr. Smith
