[Secretary of the Navy letterhead] Office Sunday U.S. Government U.S. Navy Sec'y of Navy October 20, 1917. My dear Mr. Harris: I have received your very kind letter of October 13th, and it is a real pleasure to me that you should speak so highly of Lieutenant Commander Kerrick. It is very gratifying to me to be told when naval officers discharge their duties in such an able way. With sentiments of esteem and high regard, and with much appreciation of your kind expressions, I am Sincerely yours, Josephus Daniels Mr. James R. Harris, St. Louis, Missouri.
