Mr. Max Rotter, 3506 Cedar St., Milwaukee, [Wisconsin] My dear Rotter: Enclosed you will find letter which I opened by mistake this morning and I hope you will pardon my carelessness. I have just wire you as per confirmation attached and know you will be glad to learn that the twenty-four hour official test of engine No. 489 was a complete success. Morrissey stated this morning that he felt the engine could have run a week with as good results. The fuel consumption was .478 per B.H.P. hour, and the lubricating oil consumption .96 gallons per hour. We have just received telegram from Lake authorizing us to ship the "O" engines knock-down and accepting the price we quoted them for this work. We have also received from Lake order for equipping the "S-2" engines with air starting arrangement and accepting the price we quoted them. On Wednesday morning we will begin to dismantle the "O" engine we have just tested and hope to ship same on [January] 2nd, 1918. Lieut. Commander Shane and Lieut. Morrissey are enthusiastic over the engine and will make most complimentary reports to Washington. Enclosed you will find original telegrams regarding our meeting in New York as follows: From L.Y.
