[New Washington Hotel letterhead] December 18, 1917 Mr. Max Rotter, Busch Sulzer Engine Co St. Louis, [Missouri] Dear Sir, I have just received a letter from my secretary forwarding a copy of your night letter of December 10th. I trust that some one from our office wired you that I was on this Coast. If not please excuse this delay in answering you. I think I understand the engineering matter to which your wire refers, as I was present at the engineers Conference in Washington on the 3d and in New York on the 10th. I trust that by this time you have been informed as to what occurred at both meetings. I may briefly state that the collaboration scheme originally proposed did not seem a practicable proposition. When I was last in touch with the subject it was my understanding that firms represented were nationally separated into

Davison explains the recent meeting of the members of the Diesel Engine Builders and Designers committee held in Washington D.C. In this letter he stated that there appeared to be two distinct groups within the committee making collaboration difficult. These groups are those who own their own productive plants and those who do not. |
