Robert Kirk Brady letter to Papa - September 9, 1917

Transcript

[September 9, 1917] Dear papa: - Writing you this as personal. I hope that you don't worry about me, but I want you to write me and tell me just how mamma is taking it. hope she is not taking it hard but afraid she is - it worries me because I am afraid she will get down sick. I know she can't help it but just tell me the truth above things - how she sleeps at nite and her general condition of health. I want to know - It looks like we will be here for 30 days but nothing authentic to that. don't think we will ever get across but if we do just trust that I will get back safe and sound.I know that you would not want your son in [MS illegible: 1 wd] or Bates' place and I would rather be dead than than be there. My name is Brady and I am sure going to keep that name up just like it has been handed to me. that is the way I look at it and am sure you do to. I am going to make good and come home a better man to do business with and lots of good training - like it fine if I just knew how mother was standing it. Write & tell me - keep this to yourself hope your business gets better - will write again soon. - Your son - Kirk. send me a bunch of the [MS illegible: 1 wd] small envelopes. I like them better than those I use.
