[November 16, 1918] Dear Folks:- Received some mail yesterday and was so glad to get it - letters were dated [October] 14 - 21st - 24 - also received a bundle of papers - was awfully glad to get some mail - am sorry to hear o fso much sickness - hope the epidemic soon stops - have not heard of so much sickness over here - yes I sure would love to sit down t odinner with you - sure would seem good - it won't be long efore I can be back with you folks - I htink we have just about got Germany licked - hope so anyhow - yest I intend to send a cable - gram everytime I can but we dont often have a chance to send one as we don't often hit the big towns - but everytime I get a chance I will send you one - am sorry to hear of the two deaths - feel sorry for the families - yest Pifer was slightly wounded - am sorry the people

looked at the cablegram the way they did - we could not have told everyone was OK because they wasn't nor could we say who was wounded or who wasn't some of the boys were killed - will be glad to see the writeup of Ristine - he is a full Col. now - I knew you folks knew we were in the battle and I knew that the cable-gram would be there sooner and greatly relieve your nerves - Cecil Vanhoozer was slightly gassed - not very bad - I guess by this time the boys that were wounded have written back - I knew McGaugh was wounded but did not know of Richards - am sorry to hear it - but this war is no plaything and sometimes they play rather rough - ha! ha! I don't know what Gen. Wright is commanding - he is not with us or hasn't been for some time - Gen Bullard is a Lieut. Gen and commanding 2nd Army - am glad to hear that Ruth is doing so well - hope

she continues - also that she is liked by her clss mates - speaks well of her - yes I knew the 89th was in the battle but did not know just where - have any of the folks heard from their boys in the 89th or 88th (Camp Dodge) - hate to hear of Mr. McMahan leaving - sure did like him - Miss Ellen Gossage married - sure have to laugh - some chance for me yet - enjoy the clippings you send - it still stays a little cool - just fine weather which makes a fellow quicken his step - soon will be Thanksgiving - will either be in Germany or U.S. by Xmas - what do you think of that - I sure am feeling fine - hopes all of yo uare - will close - give my regards to all my friends - goodbye - will write again soon - Lots of love to all, Your loving son Kirk - OK RKBrady Capt. 140th Inf.
