Sat. nite Dear Folks: - Am going to write you tonite as tomorrow there night be something to do - Orders come every day making more work. they sure are putting it to us these days - seems as if this division is not as far along as it should be. seems as if we will stay here till spring - I look for lots of changes among the officers - don't know just what all these orders mean but guess I will in a few days. still pretty cool down here. bought some more shirts today and 2 pr. shoes - had a chance to buy them at government prices so laid in a supply. I now have 7 shirts and 5 prs. shoes - enough to last me while I am in the army I hope - had a letter from

Cousin Wat - says he still wants to get down here - am going to try for a furlough in January. if we are here - pay day hasn't come yet - hope it will be soon. G. Davis transferred to [MS illegible: 1 wd] Dept. had another bunch of sweaters to come in tonigte. gave them out to the boys and told each one to write the woman. the boy you sent your to is in the hospital with measles - lots of them down here. will keep the sweater till he gets out - Maurice Milligan has never come down guess he got busy - all the boys are O.K. except a few colds - had a letter from Elmer - also sent me a box of cigars -

a Xmas present - got a Xmas present from Elizabeth today. said not to open it till Xmas morn. Don't know what it is - kinda hard not to look at it. Received your letter tonite - sure will enjoy that tenderloin - will get Flem to warm it or cold it is good to me - you know that I sure like it. I sure keep warm alright - get a little cool on the drill field early in the morn. glad that business is picking up. see a good many real estate trades in teh paper - seem to be Tucker & Young and Yates Cole . learn that the Elks are getting a service flags - say it will contain 19 stars in it. Cousin Wat sys he is a Master Mason. having much work in the lodge? strike

lots of Masons here - Officers and enlisted men. have never been to lodge here - too busy - have lots of studying to do. Will close and write to the other "Mrs. Brady" a letter - Ha! Ha! had a letter from her saying she was very busy knitting. hear little Clarence child has scarlet fever. Hear from Miss Bertha quite often. had a letter from Louise this week. Miss Bertha said she wanted me to dine with her Xmas week - guess not - have to make it some other time. Tell Ruth to get busy on those Xmas presents. she will know what I man.
