Boncourt, France [March] 5th 1919. Dear Folks: - Your letters of [February] 14th & 18th received today - so glad to get them - also had one from Louise - yes when we get home we can tell more about the battle than Allen - he is right in some of his remarks, other I question - that is not to be argued now but later when the division gets home so it can defend itself or join in - our main object now is to get home - yes I had a fine letter from Daisie Davis - tell her I enjoyed and will answer it if I can - will be very busy from now on getting ready to come home -we leave here Sunday for the Le Mans area - will be on the train for 3 days - will not have a chance to write you again till last of next week as no outgoing mail will be accepted at our Divisional post office after tomorrow - the dope now is that we sail sometime in April - hope it is so - would like to see Lewis

Ross - I sure would have bought Honey the watch - would be a pleasure to me - can hardly realize her being 14 yrs - can only remember her as a baby - and Allan I guess is as big as I am - I suppose by now Gerald Davis is at home - tomorrow we have a athletic meet between the companies in the regiment - I have been coaching a football team for the meet - just within the battallion - boys all like the athletics - will finish your leter after supper - it is new time for retreat and then supper - well am back from supper - had beefsteak, fried potatoes, bread, butter & jam - am smoking a cigar so you see I am contented - weather still remains damp & cloudy. sun was out today - first time in weeks, hope all of you are well - I am still feeling fine and waiting patiently for our return to U.S. hope to be there in May and the chances are now that we will be - have never been able to get the
