[Y.M.C.A. letterhead] [March 21, 1919] Dear Folks:- We are now located in barracks in the same camp near Le Mans - finished firing on the range Wednesday, weather is damp and rainy, we are bathing and being equipped with stuff that we are short, having very little drill, mostly athletics, Harry Roark is billeted close to me - we have a chat every nite, "G" Co. is close by, see them nearly every day, have not seen Farris for several days - Your letter of [February] 24th & 28th received - was sure glad to get them - am glad to hear of you getting the new job - hope business picks up - well hope the Senator is getting along better - when they boys get back I think

he will be OK. say the old town must have up their "shooting blood" all of us boys have heard enough of guns and whistling bullets so if you want us home have a peaceful town - ha! ha! we are all finished on fighting - think we will receive some mail today - we are very busy getting everything ready to be on hand when the sailing date arrives - hope it is soon and I think it will be - see where lots of hte wounded boys are at home - no news to speak of - everything is OK - we are all just waiting to hear the whistle blow "up the gang plank, boys-" our year over here will soon be up - dont think we will be here that long - boys have all kinds of rumors as to when we leave - nothing official has come down here - see where Jack Marshall has been elected

Mayor - beat Dickie - seems as tho he can get to be Mayor, was glad to see Willis Blam win altho hated to see Parker beaten - hope all of you are OK - I am feeling fine, just hope I continue to remain the same - best regards to everyone - hope to see you soon - Lots of love to all, Your loving son, Kirk.
