Somewhere in France June 4th [1918] Dear Folks:- Mail does not come very often but when it does it comes in bunches - presume that is due to certain days that ships sail - letters sure look good to us - we are having fine weather - could not ask for better - all boys feeling fine - I sure could not have better health - feel fine all the time - we are having some fine training - no doubt we will be in good shape for our task that will be before us ere long - we hear little of war and its progress - you get more of that than we do - we hope to end it this year of course it looks very doubtful to everyone - that is what we

all thot all the time in the States - I hear Wickie McD. is over here - has Paul been called - hear John Jacobs has joined the Navy. That JOhn B Clark's store was painted yellow - sure must be getting right in the old town - well I am for them - hope they continue - if they need help send for us we can do it - guess Ruth has graduated - has Allan gone to the farm yet? Well as soon as he gets old enough if we are still in war send him as you did me - of his own free will - he will never regret his act - well how are all the kids - honey I guess is spending her vacation fine - know she got thru school OK. sure would like to see her red head -
