[Thursday] eve. June 27 [1918] Dear Folks:- Sure feel like a real man tonite. happy as a lark. received 5 letters - three from you, one crom Louise and one from "Dad" Morton - yours were dated May 30th, June 3rd, June 7th - they sure made good times - pressure there are some some that I have not received as yet - but will some day - no the 140th did not march in review before the King wish we had of been that lucky but we wasn't - we have been pronounced one of the finest division over here - am glad and knew you was doing your part. I expect fried chicken tastes pretty good - will try some when I get back. I can sympathize with Ruth in he rpicking those "things" from her - have had quite a experience myself - do not think you can send only necessary packages over here - I have plenty of socks - thanks for sending them - seems as if all the boys want in the Navy - wonder why. guess they think the war will not get on the water - they might get fooled - they all are anxious to get some - where now - wonder why they

were not when when "G" was organized - am glad Ruth took the trip and I know she had a fine time - quite an experience for her and she will profit by it - quite a cute song they had. we hear several songs that the soldiers make up - and Allan is starting his career as I did - working in the same fields and for the same Uncle - no better Uncle is anywhere than Uncle Bill. I would like to tell you lots of things but we are not allowed to say much as we must always play safety first if we are to win this war. I could not ask for better health - I sure am fine and getting fat - Well, Honey I sure am glad to get your letter - am glad of your school record - keep it up - yes I know you are overworked. Ha! ha! you always was a hard worker - well help mother all you can and be a good girl and don't worry the folks - have never heard from Elizabeth - guess she is off me - I know she will be glad to get a place in her home school - was she operated on for her

deafness - told me when I was at home that she was going to have it done as soon as school was out - you had better keep the pipe till I return - thank them for me or send their address and I will when I have time - where did Zula go? guess I have not gotten some of your letters - we have no storms here - rain sometimes but altogether have fine weather - their chief crops here are hay and potatoes - feed potatoes to their stock - work [MS illegible: 1 wd] instead of horses - your letters are not censored - yes Tuck is with the Co. so is Farris - we are all here - boys are all well - Johnnie is fat as a pig - say Dad I want you and all the kinfolks to do me a favor - Vote for Dad Morton, Co "G" Daddy - wish we could all put in one for him - figut his opponent whoever he may be - I hear it is Judge Maddox - wish I could fight him - collection's race seems to be real popular - I hope all of you
