Somewhere in France June 23rd 1918. Dear Folks:- Today is Sunday and we are resting. it has been raining most of the past week . it is pleasant during the day but rather cool at nite - cover feels good and you sure can sleep - have received no mail for a long time - I know it takes a long time for mail to get here but it is hard to have to wait so long for some - we know nothing as to what has happened in Rich - since we left the States - we get an American paper which has a little news of the States - printed over here and the news cabled over - It sure looks good - among the things are hte baseball scores - I am

still feeling fine and hope to feel the same when I get back to the States - we are all anxious to get up on the line and see what we can do - everybody wants to ge tinto action cause they figure the sooner we get in the sooner the war will end - also to see our fate - no doubt some will ge tbumped off while others will come back safe & sound - we hear very little war news and do not know the exact situation of progress the Allies are making - from all reports it looks good for us - as to the end no one knows - It is noon and I have slept nearly all morning- sure can sleep over here - how is everyone in the old town - sure is a fine old town to all of us - have never heard from Queen - pressure she is all

peeved up- well it can't be helped - soon will be the 4th of July - I guess we will have plenty of fireworks this year - well Dad how is the business - anything doing at all - is it going to be good enough for both of us - I sure will be ready to settle down when I return and build myself a bungalow with a life's mate - that is if I can support one and I can do most anything now. Hows Curly, Mary & the baby? - Seems funny for Curly to be daddy - Guess Allen is on the farm - and Ruth and Honey at home - it will be a happy day when we all can again assemble at your table for one of those good meals - tell all my friends
