July 6th [1918] Dear Folks: - This afternoon is rest and I will take it for letter writing - received some more mail from you - dated May 13th - 20th - 16th - 9th and April 29th all looked good to me - you can see mail comes to us any way - some letters will refer back to other letters and we have never received it - that was the way on Curly's baby - had 2 letters from MIss Bertha - sure enjoyed both of them - Tell Pookie Davis I am going to write him soon. have never heard from Elizabeth - guess she has quit me - well I should worry - pick some one else when I get back - maybe some will move in - enjoyed looking over the commencement programs - would like to have attended all of them - am sorry your feet is troubling you - let the children do more of the work - you had better try Army shoes - ha! ha! - sure are comfortable - am sorry for Effie - a fine little girl - just what is the straight on her and Claud -

have never heard any thing about Gerald - whether he is over or not - we had a letter from Albert Watkins yesterday - wishes he was in our company - he is seeing some hot service. I think - tell Ruth I am very proud of her in getting the scholarship - if she goes off to school, (I hope she does) to apply herself as she has done in R. H. S. - I know nothing of the schools but get a good one - besides her bok education she will get a book into the world and can improve her-self - Mother's Day I was traveling some where across France - we were on the train - reason cablegram did not come was that I didn't ge tmy codeword in on time - then I wrote that card which reached you nearly as soon - we are having fine weather here - I still am having that same good health - could not feel any better - guess the children had a good 4th - boys are all OK - guess politics is in full force.

seems to be a good many in the race for Collector - Hope Morton gets thru - boys are more intersted in his race than they are as to what the Kaiser is doing. we have his picture in Co. Hdqrs. (maybe better spell it out Company Headquarters). have told you all I know - hope all are well - am always glad to hear from you - give all my pals the very best - Will write whenever I can - Must close - Bye Bye, Heaps of love to all, Your loving son, Kirk.
