[Wednesday] nite. [January 7, 1918] Dear Folks: - Will drop you a few lines - am very busy - we came off of guard tonite - so I didn't get much sleep last nite - tomorrow we have an inspection - every thing in field equipment - conducted by division - so tonite have to work pretty late getting things in shape. we are all very happy - Tuck is back with us - also Major Mabrey - seems like old times - am ready to soldier once more - would like to be home Xmas but nothing doing - got your letter today - Tell Miss Pattie I received the sweater O.K. - will write her as soon as I can - also Mrs. Powell, & Miss Georgia Morris - tell them and that I will write in a few days - How's Ruth getting along

Papa tell Walter Dunn if I overdraw to not worry - pay day will be soon I hope - have had to get some more equipment - am sending Ruth a signed check - Tell her to do as I have asked - it will please me if she will - and mother get Ruth something for me - she needs - any thing - something good and whatever she wants - Will write you again as soon as I can. am feeling fine - so don't worry - Love to all. Your loving son Kirk. will tell you about change in next letter.
