[Knights of Columbus letterhead] Boncourt, France, [January] 19th 1919. Dear Folks:- Today is cloudy and damp - nothing to do today so this now is a good time to write you - we are still in the same town doing 5 hrs. per day of drill - sure gets tiresome - same hting over each day - have a new division commander Brig Gen. Dugan - he has been in command for several weeks - Gen Traub - went to some other division - dont konw when he will get to come home - hope it will be soon - I hear Linxwiler is on the road home or soon will be - have lots to tell you when I get back - am still going to do some fighting - that fellow Clark that wrote to Maurice is going to have plenty of help if they ever get us back home -they are still censoring letters - of course yours are not censored. let me know

all the news - Major Mabrey has again been transferred - this time he went to the 138th Inf. that is the St. Louis regiment - we have an entertainment each nite - different bands & troupes of the A.E.F. had a band last nite from the 37th Div. was real good. wrote Cousin Mary a letter the other day. not much news to write. everything is just the same over and over - the boys in "G" seem to be OK - how is business? hope better than last year - this is some bum letter - dont know of a thing to tell you - so excuse this one and I will do better the next time - this will let you know I am OK - feeling fine - hope all of you are well - will write again in a day or so - hope to get some mail today - Goodbye Lots of love to all, Your loving son.
