Boncourt, France. [January] 13th 1919. Dear Folks:- Well, today I received a letter from you dated [December] 19 - sure was glad to get it as it had been some tiem since I had heard from you. also had a letter from Maurice Milligan. was glad to get the clippings. I enjoy them so much. John W. as I have told you is back with the co. he is alright. I never hear him complain any. he looks fine. yes I expect to take a leave soon and visit Paris, Nice and a few others. they say it is a fine trip. am saving my francs so I can take one. had to buy a new suit. my other one worse out. the suit cost me $60.00. these French tailors sure charge you. but we have to keep dressed or the "bosses" will be on us. keep shoes shined shave every day etc. am glad to hear of the "flu" getting better.

well Dad I am going to try to bring back a few souveniors - am going to try to get a German helmet. we have such few ways to carry stuff - but wil try to bring something back. I now have a boche cap which I got in the Argonne. picked it up and stuffed it in my pocket and am still holding on to it as a souvenir of that fierce battle. will try to get post card views of different places and sent along to you at different times. sent you one of the town we are now in. dont worry about me wanting to come back over here on a pleasure tour. I am off of this country ha! ha! U.S. is good enough for me in any tours that I will wish to take. you tell John's folks that he is OK and looks fine. guess Ruth had a fine time while at home. well I hope to be there when she comes home for her summer vacation. I hope Honey

had a fine Xmas and in fact all of you. I had as good one as is possible "over here" and away from home. yes Roark is in the 35th. Mobile Ordnance Repair. dont see how he figures on getting home so soon. I saw Harry in [November] but havent seen him since. dont know where he is located. yes I was with Milligan in the whole show. yes, we are in houses in the towns. that is what is meant by billets. most of the troops over here are billeted. some are in barracks. your letters are very interesting. don't see why you should think they were not. I look forward each day to receive one. don't worry forward each day to receive one. don't worry whenever I get a chance to come home I am coming. wish it was tomorrow - ain't staying any longer over here than is necessary.

had to have a laugh over Mr. Wimberley. sure is some funny. we are drilling. weather here still continues rainy. sun shines once or tweice a week. we now have been in the same town for over a month. some records for us. first time is has happened since landing over here. the mail service is beginning to get straightened out again. no news to speak of. hope all of you are well. wrote Ruth a letter today. I am feeling fine. I believe I will weigh nearly 160 lbs. gosh I am getting fat. tell everyone hello. Love to cousin Bruce & Mary. am going to write them a letter one of these days. I told your "K" Co was from Dexter but it is from Sikeston. I guess that is way to spell it. will close - goodnite. Lots of love to all, Your loving son, Kirk.
