[Hotel Negresco letterhead] [February] 6th, 1919. Dear Folks:- Am still having a grand time - only one more week of this kind of soldiering then back again to the "daily toil" - had a fine trip yesterday - was riding in a auto all day - went to Cannes, Grasse - saw where they make perfume - also went thru a big pottery plant - I bought a vase here and had it shipped to you - hope you receive it in good condition - from all reports I think we are coming home right away - of couse one can never tell until he sets sail on the water and lands on the shore of U.S. - have

wished several times for a kodak - I sure could ge tsome grand pictures - but as I haven't any I have to buy post cards and show them to you - this part of France is sure beautiful - the sun shines all the times - nice and warm - only need an overcoat at nite - women dressed in the most beautiful clothes - some of the scenes are beyond description - one would have to see them to believe - then you are not sure that your eyes are OK - expect to leave here [Sunday] and go to Paris for a day then back to the regiment - expect it will be moved by the time I get back to it - hope so - I am feeling fine - hope all of you are well - guess I will have lots of mail when I get back - haven't much time to write just to tell you where I am and
